Odin Space secures $3m seed funding to advance lethal, non-trackable space debris detection technology

London, UK - 10th December 2025 - Odin Space, a UK-based space technology startup developing advanced space debris detection and orbital mapping, today announced it has closed its seed funding round, raising $3 million from leading investors in the space and deep-tech sectors.

The funding will accelerate Odin’s mission to make space operations safer by enabling spacecraft operators, manufacturers, and space agencies to better predict and monitor dangerous sub-centimeter orbital debris. The round was led by Steel Atlas, with participation from Iron Prairie, Tiny VC and Cur8 Capital, and a number of other funds/angels.

As the number of active spacecraft continues to grow and orbital traffic becomes increasingly complex, the need for accurate on-orbit data about the smallest debris fragments, now recognized as a critical source of unexplained anomalies and mission failures, has become increasingly clear.

Founded in 2020, Odin is tackling this urgent challenge in the space industry - the growing threat of lethal, non-trackable space debris. The company’s proprietary Nano Sensor™ technology acts as a ‘Black Box’ for spacecraft, detecting fragments as small as 0.1mm - enabling customers to quickly identify collision impacts in-orbit and unlock collision-specific insurance, a first of its kind.  “This investment allows us to launch our commercial-grade Nano Sensors, and to help ensure that space remains a safe and sustainable environment for decades to come,” said James New, CEO of Odin Space. “We’re proud to have the support of investors who understand the importance of risk data and the role it plays in driving performance, resilience and leadership in space. With the new capital, Odin plans to expand its team, launch its first commercial-grade sensors, and scale up its data services for commercial and government clients.

"We are incredibly proud to lead Odin's Seed round. The threat of untrackable orbital debris is the single largest challenge to the space economy's future, and Odin is the only company with the proprietary Nano Sensor technology to solve it.” said Talal Attieh, GP at Steel Atlas. “They are not only making space operations safer but are also unlocking a massive, underserved market for satellite insurance by turning collision risk into a measurable, insurable asset. Their technology unlocks the ability to offer collision-only policies up to 100x cheaper than all-risk premiums. Odin is foundational to the next decade of space infrastructure."

About Odin Space
Odin Space delivers the first end-to-end intelligence on lethal, non-trackable space debris – providing the data layer needed to truly understand, manage, and insure against collision risk. Odin’s Nano Sensors and Scout Satellites work together as a distributed, always-on sensor network, revealing what's truly happening in orbit and alerting operators to emerging and evolving threats. Backed by partnerships with leading insurance brokers, Odin also powers the world’s first collision insurance product, powered by forensic impact data to cut premiums by up to 100x. From mission design to in-orbit operations, Odin provides the insight and protection operators need to build safer missions and navigate an increasingly congested space domain.
